Chemical peeling is a treatment based on the use of an acid solution to get rid of the superficial and deteriorated skin layers. These can be alpha hydroxy acid peels, trichloroacetic acid (TCA)peels and phenol peels. Thus, your skin sensation will depend on one of the three chemical peeling acids used. Superficial peels are the mildest and are recommended for all skin types, medium chemical peels penetrate the skin deeper, causing a second-degree burn (TCA) and deep peels penetrate several skin layers, are only used for the face and are recommended for dark skin as they tend to have a bleaching effect. Regarding the condition of your skin after a chemical peeling cosmetic procedure, another difference between the types of peels would be downtime or the skin's recovery or regeneration. Superficial chemical peels have limited effects and almost no downtime at all; medium peels can cause redness and warm sensations on the treated skin while the deeper peels may require several weeks to recover.
