Does the semi-permanent make-up involve any downtime? And if so, how long is it necessary for my skin to fully recover and is there any special after care involved or necessary?
After the semi-permanent make-up procedure the area may develop certain side-effects which may cause the skin to be darker, swollen and red, but the swelling usually lasts from 2 to 72 hours, depending on your body's rate of absorption. Our Renew Skin & Health Clinic cosmetic specialist, recommends cold packs to be applied to reduce the swelling. The color pigment will be very intense and thick straight after the semi-permanent make-up procedure, but in the first week almost 1/3 of the color will fade, leaving you with a more natural shade. The colors will keep on softening for the next couple of months.
In what concerns the semi permanent make-up aftercare, following the procedure our Renew Skin & Health Clinic specialist will give you a sheet specially created for you with the Dos and Don'ts you must take into account for your the semi-permanent make-up to look great and natural. You should also avoid direct sunlight on the treated area, avoid swimming for a few weeks, you should not pick any peeling or flaking skin as to avoid pigment loss, you should avoid wearing conventional make up on the treated areas for a couple of days and apply Vaseline in order to form a barrier for 3-5 days after the procedure. If the semi-permanent make-up or semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo is applied around the eyes, you should avoid wearing contact lenses for a few days. Your practitioner will also give you some maintenance advice, such as always wearing sun screen on the treated area so that the sun will not lead to the fading of the colors, etc.
